If you’ve been reading my previous blogs, you know I’m always on the lookout for new styles. And while I’ve been at home all these days, I noticed that Bollywood celebrities can’t get over one major trend this season—exaggerated sleeves. When I say exaggerated, I mean big, bold, loud and OTT. Hollywood celebs have sported it for so many functions but this type of design has also entered B-town.

This style is very versatile for women who have skinny as well as plump arms. For instance, if your sleeve is a big, balloon sleeve, it adds volume, but if it is an elongated bat sleeve, it takes away from the curves and gives you a tall look. It also adds power and makes you very confident. Take a look at all the gorgeous celebrities who have rocked this hit trend at red carpets, movie promotions, and other formal events.

1. Ananya Panday

Anaya wore a white sequined dress, which had big, beautiful, sheer sleeves with gathers from I Love Pretty. She paired it with a metallic belt and black, ankle-length boots. This dress is certainly meant for those who wish to own the room!

2. Kareena Kapoor Khan

This is one of my fave looks from Kareena till today. That silver shimmery dress with larger than life batwing sleeves elevated the outfit to the next level. The Michael Costello dress didn’t even require too much accessorising. Kareena chose to finish her look with ivory white strappy heels, metallic shadow, and a slick bun.

3. Karisma Kapoor

Karisma looked super elegant in this black embellished, one-shoulder Krikor Jabotian gown. The left side had a sleeve that was fitted till the elbow and extended to the floor, which added that extra oomph to the whole look.

4. Malaika Arora

Malaika’s choices are always bold and edgy. She has rocked the exaggerated sleeves trend the most but this is one of my personal favourites. The wavy bulge at the elbow area on the sleeve is what makes this shiny Annakiki dress stand out in a crowd. A blue-winged eye, chiselled cheeks, and boots complimented the outfit perfectly.

5. Aditi Rao Hydari

If you thought this type of sleeve could only be rocked on western wear, think again because Aditi proves you wrong with her desi look. Her beautiful long kurta from Pramaa By Pratima Pandey has various elements to it. However, my eyeballs went straight to those long sleeves that suddenly lengthen from the palm straight down, till it almost touches the floor. She cinched her waist with a black belt and opted for juttis as her footwear.

6. Sara Ali Khan

Sara looked super confident when she donned this stunning black dress with over-the-top puff sleeves from Monisha Jaising for an award function. A pink, glossy lip and nails added a pop of colour to this elegant look.

7. Shraddha Kapoor

Shraddha had donned this gorgeous iridescent outfit from Pankaj & Nidhi when she was promoting her movie, Baaghi 3. The voluminous sheer, bishop sleeves added a dramatic touch to the whole look.

8. Sonam Kapoor Ahuja

The large ruffled sleeves on Sonam’s off-shoulder gown brings so much cheer to her look, noh? Am I the only one or does her sunshine yellow dress from Ashi Studio bring, a wide smile to your face too? She opted for gold jewellery to accessorise.

9. Deepika Padukone

Is there any look Deepika can’t pull off? She adds drama to her black mermaid gown from Yanina Couture with the help of those fluffy and feathery sleeves on her arms, giving an illusion of it being an off-shoulder outfit.

10. Kriti Sanon

Here’s one more desi look. Kriti’s yellow saree gets uplifted with that cold shoulder blouse with big bell sleeves. Doesn’t she look cute as a button in this Manish Malhotra ensemble? She opted for a simple, emerald green necklace to break the monotony of her look.

11. Alia Bhatt

Alia looked like a pretty princess in this Georges Chakra gown at the IIFA Awards. If you look closely, Alia wore a cold-shoulder gown but the sleeves are extended and attached to the back of the corset tube, which gives a cape-like effect to this beautiful look.

12. Amyra Dastur

Exaggeration can be added to the shoulders too and Amyra shows us how with this stunning gown from Michael Cinco. Don’t you think this is a powerful look?

13. Rakul Preet Singh

Rakul Preet has a great sense of style and this white, fluid gown from Myor Studio looks like it was made for her. Those lengthy cut sleeves with an over-the-shoulder drape give a majestic look. Dangling earrings, white strappy stilettos, and a bold lip completed the look.
