When it comes to iconic movies in Hindi cinema, we can never go without mentioning the cult classic — Mr. India. The 1987 film directed by Shekhar Kapur is one movie that will always be evergreen in the hearts of all cinema lovers. Be it Anil Kapoor and Sridevi in the lead roles, the songs or the iconic villain Mogambo played by Om Puri, so many things made this a movie that was ahead of its times. On this day today, Mr. India completes 34 years and Anil Kapoor, took to his Instagram to celebrate it!

The actor penned a lovely note on his handle and shared an anecdote about the very famous tune in the film, “Zindagi Ki Yahi Reet Hai“. Given how relevant this song is in today’s time, the actor decided to share this lovely story behind it. Anil says he really wanted Kishore Kumar to voice that song, but he wouldn’t get along with the music composers of the film, Laxmikant-Pyarelal. So, in order to get them to work together, he pursued Kishore Da for months before he could talk to him and convince him to sing the song. He signed off with the lyrics of the song that highlight the message of doing good, and knowing that life may get tough but in the end happiness and good will prevail.

News of this film being remade by Tiger Zinda Hai director Ali Abbas Zafar have also been making rounds for the past few months, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

If you were wondering what to watch today, maybe a re-run of Mr. India to celebrate its 34 years would be fun!
