Actors Sanjay Dutt and Suniel Shetty have collaborated with Aslam Sheikh, cabinet minister Textiles, Port, Fisheries & Guardian Minister-Mumbai City in these trying times to help the famous Mumbai’s Dabbawalas. According to a report by MidDay, the minister and the actors are helping by providing food to the families.

Confirming the news, actor Suniel Shetty said—

It’s an initiative started by Aslam Bhai and Sanju, I had no hesitation in joining hands with them. Prema Cha Dabba becomes even more beautiful when everyone gets together.The actor also revealed to the publication that the food trucks have already been sent to Pune, where a number of dabbawalas have camped themselves. The report also stated that so far 800 kits of rice, dal, sugar, atta and oil have been transferred to Khed and Malval. An NGO named Save The Children India has been operative in that area.

The actor also claimed that the trio intends to reach every one of the 5000 families. He said—

The NGO has staff on ground to look into everything. We have a three-month plan in place.

For the unversed, Suniel Shetty’s father owned two Udupi restaurants which he later expanded into a fine dining restaurant. Talking about helping people during these tough times he said—

I began my journey feeding people. I would rather have them come and enjoy a meal at a restaurant. But these are not normal times and it’s sad to see so many people struggling for food in what is undoubtedly the toughest phase of our lives.
