Lockdown has forced a lot of us to adjust to a new way of life. Be it meeting our friends, family or even dating for that matter. Virtual dating is the only way to meet new people nowadays. So full points to Eros Now for making the most of the situation and coming out with their latest mini series, Date Gone Wrong 2.

The series is based on three virtual encounters, dates that go wrong! Each one tackling the many problems that virtual interactions bring with it, all while keeping it super entertaining and relatable. I spoke to one of the actors from the series, Abishek Sharrma a.k.a Rapper Sultan. Starting out as a child actor, you may know Abishek as Hrithik Roshan‘s little brother, Amit, in Hrithik’s debut ‘Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai. Well, he is of course all grown-up now, and has been a part of some popular shows like Miley Jab Hum Tum. Now, he quite excited to be a part of Date Gone Wrong 2 for it’s concept and also for the fact that he experienced filming at home, during the lockdown — and mind you, he shares that it is no simple feat!

He says that shooting at home, all by himself, made him an all-rounder:

Basically I am my own spot dada, I had to do my own make-up, costume. But I was like wow, this is quite an experience! When I heard more about my character I was even more excited to work on the project!

Ask him about what he found most challenging in the process and he says:

When I got the script and we were discussing, we all were on video call all the time. Co-ordination was the challenge. Even when clothes were concerned, I had to pick my own clothes, I had to set my background and camera. And I realised I was enjoying doing the behind the scenes work as well. And even when it came to acting, we used to have multiple rehearsals. We had to shoot all our scenes separately. So I had to know when to improvise and when to stick to the script because I had to react to my co-actor.

About whether he has had any personal experiences when it came to dates going wrong, and he says, “Once, I went on a date a couple of days back. And the network was so bad, half our time went in asking each other to repeat our sentences! I was like are yaar!”

Talking about shooting like this in the future, he says it is going to be difficult creating something without having the two actors in the same frame, but will be all about innovation as well. He adds that he hopes there is more such great content in the future like Date Gone Wrong 2.

We hope for that, too, and can’t wait to see more of Abishek on screen!
