Dia Mirza’s Pink Handloom Saree Is Appropriate To Wear Across Seasons

Sakshi Kore

August 7th is observed as National Handloom Day—an important occasion that seeks to recognise the indigenous art and craft of India. Today marks the 6th edition of the occasion and has come just in time when #VocalForLocal has been the all-new rage. And for good reason. 2020 brought the world to a standstill and people have had to fight harder to make ends meet. Supporting and uplifting local art and craft has become the need of the hour and India has actively been shedding light on this issue. That being said, National Handloom Day is a celebration of the Swadeshi Movement—a protest launched in 1905 against the partition of Bengal by the British government.

The driving force of fashion in India—Bollywood, has been supremely vocal about choosing local and handmade products. Amongst the many stars that took to their Instagram to show support to the handloom community is Dia Mirza who flaunted her handloom possession: a gorgeous, pastel pink, chiffon saree. Read on for more details of her outfit.

Dia Mirza’s saree comes in a soothing colour palette and a comfortable fabric:

Crafted by mastermind Riddhi Jain Satija of Medium, the six-yard staple is made of three fabrics—silk, organza and chiffon. The saree is dipped in beautiful shades of pink. The blouse is painted in a rani-pink hue and the saree complements it with a light, pastel pink. The breathable fabrics of the silhouette make it appropriate to wear across seasons, ensuring an easy-breezy feel for the wearer. The saree comes with geometric, Jamdani florals adding a playful touch to the look.

Self-toned sequins in linear patterns further accentuate the six-yard that Dia teamed with an intricately checkered blouse. The round-neck of the blouse adds a boss-like vibe to the outfit, while the delicate tassels featured on the hemline of the pallu add a fun finishing touch. To add some glam to the look, the star accessorised her outfit with shoulder-grazing, linear earrings.

In the beauty department, the actress kept things fairly simple. A middle-parted, low-pony, a statement red lip and filled-in eyebrows rounded off her hair and makeup!

I, for one, love the colour palette of the ensemble and the breathability of it. What do you think of Dia’s look for Handloom Day? Tell me in the comments below!
