No one plays around with style and fashion quite like Kangana Ranaut does. The actor who has delivered award-winning films and is perpetually a part of countless controversies also makes time for fashion. She’s got a hectic schedule in place but she swings through it in style. Currently, the actor is in the news for one too many things. But for now, she has caught our eye for a style statement she just casually made a few days back. The actor took to her Instagram to talk about promoting homegrown brands and labels. She said “Fashion should be inclusive but what is the point of including others and excluding our own? True meaning of Nationalism is Nation first, our own first…” It just adds on to the #VocalForLocal initiative that’s making rounds in the country and for good reason. Kangana’s post showed off an elegant Manipuri Phanek she was wearing that was crafted by a Manipuri designer. The outfit was definitely an eye candy for many things. Want in on more details? Kangana carries Indian-wear as effortlessly as western-wear and there’s no denying that. And her latest look is proof. Captured in a candid moment, Kangana sported a traditional Phanek set crafted by Robert Naorem of Manipur. A Phanek is a formal loincloth draped around the waist like a long skirt and is worn by the women of Manipur. Kangana’s Phanek set comprised an ivory, sweetheart-necked blouse with sequin work and dainty, ruffled sleeves. The Phanek that she teamed her blouse with was made from a white cloth and featured a blue striped print. To complete the look, Kangana added a balmy, pastel blue dupatta that came in a multicoloured floral print. Think yellow, pink, muted green and sky blue.
Giving accessories and makeup a pass, the actress kept things fuss-free to drive all the attention to her outfit. And might I say, she did a good job! However, her enviable curls did steal the show a little if not fully, no?
