Neha Dhupia completes two decades in the industry this year, and she recently spoke to us exclusively about her career, family and more. Speaking about the ‘rat race’ in the industry, she agrees that there is definitely a difference in how it was then versus how it is now.

She shares that she was in a flight recently with Zeenat Aman and told her that there really is no one like her. To that, the yesteryear actor said they had the privilege to ‘preserve themselves’ then. In this day and age of social media and excessive media attention, that doesn’t remain the case. It has become very easy for us to access and reach celebrities. She says she misses the times when we didn’t know much about the actor and gives an example of when she was Deepika Padukone for the first time on the poster of Om Shanti Om.

She shares:

I wish the newer people or the ones I am interested in watching just preserve themselves a little more. Because, I feel like I already know them. They have half a million or a million followers on Instagram. Everybody who wants to know them will already do. I still remember when Om Shanti Om came out, and i saw Deepika (Padukone) with her big eyes in the poster, I was like ‘Wow, who is this girl?’. I miss that.

She adds that she does stalk them, follow them and take cues from their ‘airport looks’ like any other normal person, but that this just her opinion.
