If you haven’t got on the eyeshadow stick train yet now is a great time to do so, consider this your sign. A perfectly executed smokey eye or sparkly eyeshadow can really turn heads when you go out but don’t discount the quality and versatility of a cream eyeshadow stick. Whether you’re just swiping a single colour early in the morning or layering on a precise look, shadow sticks can deliver stunning results in a jiffy with just a few simple steps. No powder fallout on your cheeks and just minimal blending required. Think of all that time you’ll save before your next Zoom meeting or last-minute occasion. Plus you can literally just pop them in your purse if you’re on the go, unlike a clunky powder palette.

Well, what about cream pot shadows you ask? Isn’t it almost the same thing? TBH those are pretty great too but you’ll get only as much precision as your finger or the brush you’re using. A stick form gives you much more controlled application and can have multiple uses as eyeliner, eyeshadow and even your face as you see fit like blush or hightlight. Moreover, it’s so easy to use, whether you’re a novice or a well-trained professional, stick shadows are virtually fool-proof. A trusty eyeshadow stick will never steer you wrong and its something every makeup lover should have in their makeup kit. Especially so if you love quick yet flawless makeup looks. Don’t know where to start? Look no further than our roundup of top-notch eyeshadow sticks that will never steer you wrong.

1. Laura Mercier, Caviar Stick Eye Colour

This luxurious creamy formula glides effortlessly on the lids and delivers long-lasting coverage for hours. Available in about 12 shades with multiple matte and shimmer finishes, it’s rich in pigments and allows you build intense colour that doesn’t feel heavy on the eyes for even a second. 2.  Charlotte Tilbury, Colour Chameleon Eye Shadow Pencil

You might need to sharpen this cream pencil but it has an amazing long-wearing and water-resistant formula. These giant childlike pencils glide on and blend out incredibly easily. All the shades are super flattering and come with corresponding labels for specific eye colours but don’t feel bound to follow that strictly, those are just a suggestion. Each of the shades has a subtle shimmer that really makes your eyes sparkle and shine. However, we do suggest working on one eye at a time and blending it quickly with this formula because once it sets it won’t budge. Might want to bookmark this for next monsoon season.

You literally just need one stoke to add a pop of colour to your eyes. Moreover, it’s a great affordable drugstore option that’s quite comparable to higher-end formulas.

4. Bobbi Brown, Long-Wear Cream Shadow Stick

The Bobbi Brown cream shadow formulas are so insanely creamy and pigmented I’m surprised we don’t hear about them more often. While they are on the pricer end their gorg shimmer and matte neutrals will make you want to scoop them up ASAP. Plus these babies offer a crease-proof formula that does not budge for hours. If you could only pick one we recommend Goldstone which is a cool dirty colour that’s more unique than the usual bronze shades but it delivers an amazing metallic punch.
