Will Smith punching Chris Rock, unfortunately became the highlight of the 94th Academy Awards. The focus clearly got shifted from great work that needed to be celebrated. Chris made a comment on Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith’s medical condition, commenting, ‘GI Joe 2, can’t wait to see’, thus comparing her bald look to that of Demi Moore in GI Joe. He also went on to say, ‘Oh that was a good one.’ Jada is suffering from Alopecia which is a condition where one loses their hair. This clearly didn’t go down well with Smith as he went up on stage and punched Rock in the face!

Post this incident, the internet was on fire with memes on this. Many also criticised Will Smith for his violent behaviour. Smith also won an Oscar for Best Actor, for his film King Richard but unfortunately that big win has gotten overshadowed by this incident. Smith has now made a public apology to Rock.
