It has been quite a spectacular month at the box office for films. We saw some of the biggest stars drop their film this month and last, which has managed to pull audiences to the cinemas to experience films on the big screen. There were films like Gadar 2, OMG 2 and Jailer. The 3 new releases raked in Rs 127 crore on August 15 itself, whereas the other ones like Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, Bhola Shankar and Oppenheimer contributed around Rs 13 crore to the full-day total.
Leading the race was Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 as it collected a whopping 65 Crores on a single day, on the 15th of August. the plot of the film was very much aligned with the Independence Day theme which pulled in quite a crowd. Second to Gadar was Rajini’s Jailer, which collected 42 Crores, despite it being its 6th day at the box office. OMG 2 on the other hand saw one of its biggest earnings of around Rs 17 Crores and in total earns 72.27 Cr in 5 days All in all, Indians flocked to the cinemas on the 15th of August and sold tickets worth Rs. 140 Crores. Now that’s quite a number.
