Vicky Kaushal’s film Sardar Udham won five national film awards last night and it was very much deserving of each one of them. Sardar Udham has been named the Best Hindi Film, and it also won awards in Best Cinematography, Best Costume Designer, Best Production Design, and Best Audiography: Re-Recording (Final Mixing) categories. The film is directed by Soojit Sircar, and the director also got very emotional upon this announcement and also decided to dedicate all of the awards to his friend late Irrfan Khan who was earlier set to play the lead in the film.

We may have heard a lot about the film in the news, in the last 24 hours, but not many know about the plot this film is based on. The film is a crime drama that stars Vicky Kaushal and Banita Sandhu. The story begins with Udham Singh (Vicky Kaushal) being released from prison after spending time in there for previous acts. The film is a biopic detailing the 2 decades that Punjabi Sikh revolutionary, Udham Singh, spent planning the assassination of the man responsible for the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. It tells us a tale of a fearless and revolutionary man, played by Vicky. His acting was critically acclaimed as it was convincing and made the audience feel for him. If not for the story, I would definitely recommend you watch this for Vicky’s stellar performance.

Netizens also raised a lot of questions as to how Vicky Kaushal deserved to win the award last night for this film, instead of Ally Arjun for Pushpa. Who do you think deserved to take home the title for best actor?
