Post the success of ‘Pathaan’, the expectations from Siddharth Anand to take the viewer’s experience a notch higher has been there, undoubtedly, and quite impressively the director manages to do that with ‘Fighter’. The first release of 2024, ‘Fighter’ is Siddharth Anand’s directorial and the first under his production house, Marflix, starring Deepika Padukone, Hrithik Roshan, Anil Kapoor, Karan Singh Grover, Akshay Oberoi and Rishabh Sawhney. The movie is set on the premise of Indian Air Force squadron leaders on a mission to protect the nation, fight terrorism, and curb the spread of its wings.

Fighter is a wholesome experience‘, as Siddharth Anand rightly said, the movie is meant for everyone. If you love action, this movie serves you with some never seen before, realistic aerial combat impressively designed, that’ll get you to the edge of your seats. As the movie unfolds, so does the drama and that streak of patriotism. The budding romance between Patty and Minnie takes its path gradually, but it is that chemistry between Hrithik Roshan aka Shamsher Pathania, and Deepika Padukone aka Meenal Rathore that is absolute fire! ‘Fighter’ quite seamlessly transitions between moments of calm and all hell breaking loose. The first half craves for no interval, that’s right that’s how immersed I was while watching this, while the second half brilliantly unfolds without making you realise that you’re 2.5 hours down!

Hrithik Roshan makes for an impactful performance as Shamsher Pathania aka Patty, who is charming, witty, and a go-getter, some may call him “arrogant”, but he prefers terming it as “confident”. Deepika Padukone steals the limelight as she plays Meenal Rathore aka Minnie, a character that will make you fall in love with her for being her ambitious, unabashed self. Anil Kapoor leaves everyone is awe as he plays Rocky so effortlessly, making everyone feel what he feels on the inside with that stern look on the outside… ek dum Jhakaas! … if I may add! Karan Singh Grover( Sartaj), Akshay Oberoi (Basheer) have given their absolute best, leaving everyone amazed with their noteworthy performance. Rishabh Sawhney, who plays the antagonist, gives a commendable performance.

The background music of the movie perfectly enhances the visual treat that ‘Fighter’ provides the audience with, along with strong dialogues that may prove to have a massive recall value. The phenomenal visuals – be it the aerial combat scenes that are designed so well or the realistic VFX that through the 3D glasses teleports you into that world is every bit praiseworthy. The impressive performances by the stellar cast especially in the parts of the movie where they emote with their eyes only deserve appreciation. All in all, Siddharth Anand’s ‘Fighter’ is worth a watch on the big screen for that immersive, wholesome experience.
