It’s almost impossible to talk about Sunny Deol’s most iconic performances without recalling his famous dialogue from Damini (1993): “Jab ye dhai kilo ka haath…” The line has lived on in meme culture and internet jokes for decades. But as it turns out, the actor himself isn’t particularly fond of constantly revisiting it.

In a recent chat with Zoom, Sunny admitted that there was a time when he got annoyed by repeated requests to recite the line “Dhai kilo ka haath has become such a thing. Initially, I used to get so irritated because jahan bhi jao, yeh dialogue bolo, yeh dialogue bolo. Obviously, it’s a great pride, people are wanting all that, but vo kar kar ke aadmi sochta hai ki yahi aur bhi bahut kuch karna hai,” the actor said.

Celebrating 32 Years of Damini

Interestingly, this comes months after Sunny marked the 32nd anniversary of Damini. On April 30, he shared a heartfelt Instagram post that read, “A film that roared louder than words, Damini still echoes in the hearts of millions. Grateful to be part of a story that stood for justice, courage, and truth.”

Released on April 30, 1993, Damini starred Meenakshi Seshadri, Rishi Kapoor, and Amrish Puri alongside Deol. The film is remembered as one of the most hard-hitting social dramas of its time.

Sunny Deol on Border 2

On the work front, Sunny is currently filming Border 2, produced by Bhushan Kumar and Nidhi Dutta. Speaking about the project, he said, “I have just done a little work with Varun till now. Now I am going to be shooting with Diljit and Varun again together, so it’s going well. I hope that we live up to it because it’s very scary.”

He added that the anticipation reminds him of Gadar 2’s release. “Because of that fear, I am not going to let it stop me from doing things. Let’s follow the script and flow with it, and hopefully, we will satisfy the audience’s expectations,” Sunny said.

Sunny was last seen in Jaat, a film that carried high expectations following the massive success of Gadar 2. However, it failed to create the same impact at the box office. His next big release, Border 2, is set to hit theaters on January 22, 2026.
