Did you know Malaika Arora received judgment not only from the public, but she was also judged by those who were close to her during her divorce from Arbaaz Khan. The actor and entrepreneur has now revealed how tough that time in her life was, pointing out the social stigma that was still attached to divorce at that time. Malaika and Arbaaz had announced their separation in 2016 after almost 20 years of marriage, and their divorce was finalised in 2017.

While it is now more common to talk about failed marriages, Malaika said that things were quite different at that time. In a recent interview with India Today, she mentioned that her choice to leave an unhappy marriage led to criticism and people questioning her from every direction, even friends and family members whom she certainly thought would support her.

Malaika, however, points out that she still maintains her belief in love and marriage and has not lost faith after her past. The actress said that she still believes in the concept of marriage, but does not feel the need to look for it constantly. She is satisfied with her life and would simply be open to love if it came her way.

She has been married and has had relationships since, so she says that she is not cynical; rather, she loves and appreciates the virtues of love, companionship, and emotional connection, without any pressure or time frames. Looking back, Malaika also imparted the wisdom and advice she would have given her younger self. Having married at 25, she believes that people should take time to live, grow, and become financially and emotionally independent before getting married.

Although she is thankful for the positive things that came out of her marriage, especially becoming a mother early on, she is of the opinion that life experience is very important when it comes to making big decisions. In an interview, Malaika has also talked about the time when she and Arbaaz realised their marriage was not going to work despite all the efforts they made. In the end, she said, there was a time when it was inevitable to decide for one’s own happiness, a choice that she has maintained till this day.
