Reports suggest that the Oh My God franchise may be set for a notable expansion with the addition of Rani Mukerji to its upcoming third instalment. The actress is reportedly in talks to join Oh My God 3, which is headlined by Akshay Kumar and is currently in the early stages of development. If the reports hold, the film will mark a rare collaboration between two prominent actors who rose to fame in the 1990s.

The insiders are hinting at the fact that with her character, not only will the film get a grander scale, but also a fresh warmth in the narrative. The casting move is seen as a way to deepen the storytelling and entice further audience.

The makers wanted to bring in a strong female character who could match the intensity and the purpose-driven tone of the franchise, sources close to the project reveal. It is said that Rani Mukerji’s wide acting range and her powerful screen presence made her the right choice almost effortlessly, and that her role is so integral to the story that it is not just a mere supporting one.

The statement also mentions that Akshay Kumar is extremely instrumental in the creation of the vision of the Oh My God 3 concept. Following the triumphant success of the prior two films, the actor was reportedly determined to take the franchise forward with a more expansive storyline and higher emotional stakes.

Amit Rai, the director of Oh My God 2, returns to direct this one, too.

Rani Mukerji’s rumored casting of a sequel to her cult hit religious satire, Oh My God, has already created a buzz for the third installment of the franchise, Oh My God 3.
