Lili Reinhart, known for her role as Betty Cooper in Riverdale, revealed her endometriosis diagnosis, remarking that it was like the end of a long and tiring quest for answers. On Instagram, Reinhart revealed that only after a laparoscopic surgery, which she undertook because she felt her issues were ignored, did she get a clear picture of her condition.

Lili Reinhart also recalled that it was last year that her problems started when she went to a urogynecologist and was diagnosed with interstitial cystitis. At that time, she was informed that no real remedy would be found for the symptoms she had. She added that though she had been to the hospital several times and also consulted different doctors in the fields of urology and gynecology, none of the doctors took the trouble to consider that she might have endometriosis.
Not willing to concede defeat, the actor kept on searching for help and finally found two pelvic floor therapists with whom she worked. Her breakthrough was when she met an endometriosis expert who advised her to have an operation. This advice was given to her even though a doctor had said that she probably would not have the condition and, therefore, surgery was unnecessary. Reinhart said she was thankful to herself for following her gut, and she wishes her story could be of help to others who, like her, would not give up their health rights.
Endometriosis is a long-term disorder where similar tissue to the uterine lining attaches itself outside the uterus, leading to pain, exhaustion, and in some cases, difficulty in conceiving. Lili’s story is the reason why a renewed conversation has been taking place about the fact that many people suffer for a long time before receiving a correct diagnosis, especially for diseases that are often misunderstood or ignored.
Along with the news about her health, Reinhart also revealed a major career change. After several years of being on network television, she said that she is intentionally moving towards indie films. She called it a big change that requires a lot of patience. She also said that she wants to make a long career, one in which every job would be significant enough to keep her passion alive for years to come.
