Bigg Boss 12 Day 1 Recap: Contestants Question Anup Jalota & Jasleen Matharu’s Relationship

It was on Sunday that the twelfth season of Bigg Boss premiered on  Colors with Salman Khan as its returning host. After its last season, the viewers were expecting this one to take the fun, entertainment, and drama to the next level and looks like it won’t disappoint. Yesterday marked the first day of the contestants in the house and their true personalities started emerging even before it was lunch hour.

Bigg Boss announced the first task of the season, kicking in the competitive side of the contestants. The first task of the season was titled ‘BB press conference’ where the celebrities who entered the house as ‘Single’ had to challenge the Vichitra jodi who in their view is weak and should be nominated. The other housemates who weren’t on the hot seat were asked to play the role of the press to pose strong questions to them and vote for the one who argues the best and proves they’re stronger.

To amp up the entertainment level and to have an unbiased view, ex-contestants Hina Khan and Hiten Tejwani were invited as the Sanchalaks of this task.  They also hinted at the duo playing a pivotal role in this week’s nomination. During the task, Nehha Pendse nominated Deepak Thakur and Urvashi Vani only to be voted as the weaker opponent by everyone except Hina. The actual drama began when Srishti Rode nominated Anup Jalota and Jasleen Matharu. The couple was an easy target and Srishti presented her points highlighting that Anup’s age could prove them to be the weaker jodi. However, the conversation quickly moved on to the couple’s relationship. Everyone in the house is irked about the true nature of their relationship ever since they got to know that the duo was romantically involved. This task gave the housemates the perfect opportunity to openly question the duo on their relationship.

The questions left Jasleen and Anup annoyed as the housemates pointed out the lack of chemistry and Jasleen’s reluctance in openly accepting that they were in fact together. By the end, the couple did for once say they were in a romantic relationship and yet were voted as the weaker contestant by the judges and housemates.

The task may have highlighted only two singles and two jodis but the groups in the house have already started to emerge. While the Singles might be sticking together, for now, one can already see trouble brewing between the vichitra jodis as the Khan sisters express their disinterest in having Deepak in the house due to his habit of ‘talking a lot’. Before the show ended we also got to see the ‘fake fight’ between Shivashish Mishra and Somi Khan which left Sreesanth and Urvashi upset. Will this ‘fake fight’ lead to rivalries in the house or lead to an actual fight? On time will tell. The other differences and problems between contestant may not be so evident yet but it’s Bigg Boss and it’s just the beginning.

The preview of the next episode gave the viewers a peek into the next bit of the task with guest judges Karan Patel and Shilpa Shinde. The sneak peek also showed the contestant being annoyed with Saba and Somi’s attitude in the house and challenge their jodi in the task. This episode has drama written all over it!
