Horror Comedy as a genre isn’t something we get to see often in Hindi Cinema. Stree, starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor and directed by Amar Kaushik was one such horror comedy that became a sleeper hit and one of the most profitable films of 2018. The makers recently announced a sequel in the making and this has created a lot of buzz among fans. Rumours have since been flying around about the casting of the film. It was reported that Varun Dhawan may replace Rajkummar in the lead role. However, when contacted about it, Varun outrightly denied the rumours and clarified that there was no truth to it.
Inside sources have also confirmed that Rajkummar will be the lead in the sequel.
A source clarified:
Stree was such a huge success that it’s only natural that there will be ample talk regarding a sequel. Whenever it happens, it will star Rajkummar Rao in the lead. Director Amar Kaushik, too, has clarified that several times in the past.
Following the success of the Stree, producer Dinesh Vijan recently announced his next horror comedy with Rajkummar titled Rooh- Afza. On the work front, Rajkummar is currently shooting for Turram Khan with Nushrat Bharucha and Mental Hai Kya with Kangana Ranaut. As for Varun, he is busy promoting his next period drama, Kalank.
