Primer Tricks For A Long-Lasting Flawless Base

It’s no secret that a good base is key to a flawless makeup look. No matter how high-quality and effective your makeup products are, they won’t be able to work if you don’t use a primer. I know what you’re probably thinking, “another product I need to buy?!” but hear me out before you make up your mind about primers. If your makeup has ever creased or looked cakey just a few minutes after you’ve applied it, then it’s probably because you don’t use a good primer. Before I started using a primer my foundation would look textured and my pores would look huge. However, after I started using a pore minimizing primer my makeup looks so much more sophisticated and put together. That’s the beauty of primers, once you use them, you can’t live without them. What makes it better is that there are tons of primers out there, you’ll be spoilt for choice! Once you’ve found a primer that’s perfectly suited for your needs, try these amazing primer tricks that’ll take your makeup look to the next level:

1. Less Is More

What they say is true, too much of a good thing is still bad. When you use too much primer on your skin it tends to cake up under your foundation which defeats it’s whole purpose—to even out your skin’s texture. Hence, you should use a pea-sized amount to cover your whole face. Trust me when I say this, this primer trick will change the way your makeup looks entirely.

P.S. always use your hands to spread the primer because if you use a makeup brush then it won’t get absorbed by your skin.

2. Don’t Forget Your Lids

IMHO cakey eyeshadow is one of the most cringe-worthy things ever! Whenever we blink the eyeshadow we apply tends to cake and move around. Hence, you should use an eyeshadow primer before applying your eyeshadow.

MM Pro Tip: First apply eyeshadow primer then set it with some translucent powder and then apply your eyeshadow. This will make sure that your eyeshadow lasts all day.

3. Use A Tinted Primer

Has this ever happened to you—even after you’ve applied your foundation, your skin still looks dull or red? That can be easily corrected with a tinted primer. If you have dull or sallow looking skin then try using a purple/lavender coloured primer. This will cover the dullness and show the true colour of your foundation. If your aim is to cover redness then you should use a green coloured primer. Doing this won’t allow the redness on your skin to show through your foundation.

4. No Cakey Concealer

Do you stay away from concealer because it tends to be cakey? Try this primer trick and see the magic happen. Take a bit of your concealer on the back of your hand and mix in a few drops of your primer. Apply this mixture under your eyes and blend as you would normally blend your concealer. This primer trick is life-changing!

5. Longer Lashes

Lash primers are a thing and they can help your natural lashes look longer. Say bye-bye to your false lashes because you won’t need them if you use a lash primer. A lash primer will help your lashes look thick, spaced out and long. All you have to do is apply a layer of lash primer before your mascara.

6. Bold Lips

Don’t you hate it when the lines of your lips are visible through your lipstick? That can be easily fixed by using a lip primer. Just put on some of the lip primer, let it dry and then apply your lipstick. Your lipstick will last all day long without budging.

7. Set With Powder

After you’re done with applying all your makeup, set it with a translucent powder your makeup won’t budge at all.
