Yami Gautam: ‘It Is Not Easy To Be Self-Made In The Industry’

It is not an easy task to make a mark in Bollywood, and that is a known fact by now. Hundreds of people come in every day looking for a break, but very few make it through the auditions. Yami Gautam is one such actress who made it through and made a lasting impact with her stint in Vicky Donor opposite Ayushmann Khurrana.

Now, many movies later, the duo got back together for Bala. The film has been getting amazing reviews from everyone and Yami’s performance — as the popular Tik-Tok star and model from Lucknow —has also been hugely appreciated. Talking to IANS, she spoke about her journey in the industry and said that she doesn’t think of herself as a star.

Here’s what she said:

I feel evolved and I don’t think that way that I am a star… I am still that pahadi, Chandigarh girl, which I love about myself. That is very important… Films are a part of my entire life… Having said that, there is a lot of gratitude. It is not easy to be here (Bollywood) and be self-made and make it on your own.

We have to agree with her on that! Talking about her films, and her favourite out of those, she picks Sarkaar. It may not have done very well, but she says it has a special place in her heart because of Amitabh Bachchan.

She also adds:

There are so many talented boys and girls out there probably who couldn’t get the opportunity… I am glad and thankful that I got and getting such opportunities to work with such filmmakers on such good scripts.

On the work front, Yami has Ginni Weds Sunny in the pipeline opposite Vikrant Massey.
