Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s Gangubai Kathiawadi has been in the news since the time it was announced. The biographical crime drama is set to star Alia Bhatt in the lead role. She will be seen playing a ‘Mafia Queen’, Gangubai based on one of the chapters from Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens Of Mumbai. There has been a lot of talk about the rest of the cast in the project, and up until now, we have heard that Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi and television actor and dancer, Shantanu Maheshwari, will reportedly be seen playing pivotal roles in the story.

Now, according to an exclusive report by Koimoi, actor Jim Sarbh is also being considered to play a pivotal role in the film. This will be the second time that Sanjay and Jim will be collaborating after Padmaavat, where he played the role of Malik Kafur.

A source close to the development of the film shared that Jim is set to play a journalist in the film. Jim has already shot for a few portions of the film. As Gangubai was one of the initial films to start shoot post the COVID-19-induced nationwide lockdown, the source informs that he will soon resume shoot on the film to shoot the other parts as well.

Gangubai was initially set to release on September 11th, 2020, but due to the shoot being halted because of the pandemic, the release has been postponed.
