Bhediya: Varun Dhawan’s First Look From The Film Will Give You Goosebumps

Akash Bhatnagar

Varun Dhawan has been in the film industry for nine years now and he is majorly known for his comedy performances. But what I love the most about Varun is his versatile film choices, if he has done a Main Tera Hero, he has also done a Badlapur. For a Coolie No 1, you also have an October. And now, he is ready to enter the horror-comedy space with Bhediya, and I must say the first look of the film has piqued my interest.

The first look poster of the monster comedy sees Varun in an intense gaze with his eyes shining in gold. The intensity in his eyes seeps through you and actually creates a perception that maybe Varun is the titular monster in the film.

Here’s the first look:

Apart from the look, the makers also announced a new release date for Bhediya. The Dinesh Vijan production and Amar Kaushik directorial is now going to release on November 25, 2022. The reason behind that is reported to be heavy VFX work. Hollywood’s premier effects studio Mr X, which is a part of Technicolor Creative Studios, is handling the visual effects of the film. They have previously worked on the Oscar-nominated Love and Monsters and the Emmy-winning Vikings, along with projects like WandaVision, Mortal Kombat, Hellboy and Ad Astra.

Here’s what an ecstatic Dinesh had to say about the collaboration with Mr X:

“Mr. X has been a pioneer in the industry, having created some of the most spellbinding visual masterpieces of recent movie history. Ever since we conceptualised Bhediya, we knew our film needed the expertise of Mr. X to weave that epic scale.”

Amar also resonates with Dinesh’s views as he said:

“Bhediya is a tale filled with awe-inspiring imagery. Each and every member of the cast and crew knew that we were crafting something very special. It’s not just the path breaking VFX; the film is a feast for the eyes in every aspect possible.”

Bhediya is first-of-a-kind monster comedy in Indian cinema and also features Kriti Sanon and Abhishek Banerjee, and I am really eager to see Varun and Kriti back together on screen six years after Dilwale. I got to see a glimpse of their evolved chemistry in the Kalank song Aira Gaira, and that had only increased my interest. I feel that Varun needs to be appreciated more for his grasp on the knowledge of what the audience wants from him and still being able to diversify in his work, and I am sure Bhediya will do just that for him.
