Alia Bhatt has always been a self-confessed fan of her boyfriend, Ranbir Kapoor. She has mentioned that he’s on of her favourite actors and that she would love to work with him. Who knew that in time, her admiration for him would turn into something quite serious on the sets of their film Brahmastra. The two actors have confirmed their relationship, and even engaged in super cute PDA at a few recent events that made everyone go “Awww!“.
But seems like their casting was not all that organic. In a recent interview with Firstpost, Alia revealed that she pleaded with her good friend and director, Ayan Mukerji, to cast her opposite Ranbir in Brahmastra.
Revealing that she always wanted to work with the Director-Actor duo, Alia told Firstpost:
The idea for Brahmastra was conceived long back when Ayan had just done Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. I wanted to work with him and I have always wanted to work with Ranbir as well. I pleaded to Ayan that please cast me with him.
Talking about Ranbir, she mentioned how she had always admired his honesty and effortlessness in front of the camera. She also said that he is quite similar to her in his acting process, where he switches on and off very easily on set.
Brahmastra is directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Karan Johar. This fantasy drama stars Alia and Ranbir alongside Amitabh Bachchan, Telegu actor Nagarjuna and Mouni Roy . The film is slated to release this Christmas.
