If you’re into alternative therapies and forms of healing, you may have heard of “crystals“, which are basically minerals that are believed to have healing properties. These beautiful stones are thought to correspond with our inner energy system known as the “chakra” system. When different crystals are held or placed on our body, they supposedly impact the different areas that correspond with the different chakras (vortex of energy).

To take a closer look at crystals and understand their benefits, we reached out to Aarti Kalro, Crystal Therapist and Akashic Reader. Aarti says,

Crystals and gemstones have been used since ancient times for protection, in rituals and as talismans of luck. Our physical beings and our energy field (or aura) are affected by the environment and vibrations of people around us. This in turn affects our physical health. Crystals, like all elements of nature, have their own energetic field that can impact us. This is because they have very stable energy, which helps to align our own fluctuating energies.

How To Use Crystals  

Crystals come in various natural and polished shapes, and each has its own purpose that helps to achieve particular outcomes. They can be used in various forms; the easiest way is to use them in jewellery. During meditation, they provide answers as they contain wisdom from the universe within them. Keeping them around the home and office by following Feng Shui principles, can bring one harmony. Aarti says,

Hold a crystal in your hand and you will begin to feel a gentle vibration that invokes peace, love, or inspiration. Its colours will do the same and their patterns are worlds within which one can get lost. These gifts from the earth are tools of healing.

How To Choose A Crystal  

If you do not have access to a Crystal Therapist, you can read up about the properties online and choose a crystal accordingly. You could also trust your inner guidance and choose the crystal that calls out to you the most. It is often said that the crystal chooses its owner, rather than the other way around!

How To Take Care Of Crystals

Crystals need to be cleaned every now and then as they absorb or get clouded with external energies. There are multiple ways to do this, the most common being smudging (burning sage), soaking in water, or energising it in sunlight or moonlight.

1. Rose Quartz

Love starts with the self and rose quartz is the perfect nurturer for love and relationships.

2. Amethyst

This crystal helps provide protection and is a stone that connects one to the universal wisdom. It is also excellent to help deal with insomnia and nightmares.

3. Citrine

Also known as the stone of manifestation, citrine helps attract prosperity.

4. Black Tourmaline

This crystal is highly protective as it absorbs negative energies. Used with Smoky Quartz, it helps in grounding one, and removing stress from our bodies and environment.

5. Clear Quartz

Clear Quartz is a master teacher and an amplifier of energy. It balances all the chakras in the body and contains high vibrations that can help achieve higher states of meditation.
